I guess the "Avatar" walking figure, would be a "giveaway" this is not version 1 . Let's not forget there are "Professional " train simulators out there , just like "flight simulators" , and , since those cost in the 1 MILLION bucks price range , then , they have to "deliver"... on the content . What was seen on the video, looks like it' s been "streaming" , such as if that was hosted on a Network Server . The "content" is far too "rich" ( if you want ), to have this running on a "standalone" computer ( isolated from the Internet , or running such programs "off line" ) . And this, despite the fact we all will have to upgrade to 5,000 dollars Home "supercomputers" , by the looks of it ... "2009"certainly stands for something , that much I know, as I found out just last week . Check this out ( for those who are asking if Microsoft may possibly have anything to do with all this ..."2009 stuff" ) . link is down below Jean Brisson Victoria, BC www.tsinsider.com/en-US/Pages/default.aspx

Here is some more things I found out . I had to go really deep to find all this .
The video itself is indeed pure fantasy . Period . It evens says , so, in the credits : >> Next-Gen visions - A Train Sim fantasy <<
This is not originating from a Train Simulator program.
This was creation of the folks at 3D Trains , as some kind of ..., this is what the future would look like ... , as far as Train Sim .
In 3D Trains staff very own words : >> It is not KRS, this was created by 3DTrains for the developers conference last fall. <<
This is done along the lines of those fully digital Walt Disney movies , and looking closely , this is a clever combination of actual video( or film ) footage , into which Digital elements interact with .
In the credits also, it indicates 3D Trains as the producer , and G-Trax Simulations LLC , as the ( quote / unquote ) Simulator program used to create this . If you Google for G-Trax Simulations, you will come up empty-handed .
And so, despite being a demo type of fantasy, the mere fact that 3D Trains was even able to assemble such a thing , leaves the door wide open to speculation, as if , possibly one day soon , we could all have access to the same overall High End intensity .
The anwer to this would be : Yes and No.
I will expand upon that in a separate post .

Follow up : as indicated my previous reply , this video is simply a High Definition / digitized Walt Disney - Pixelart type of digitized video /computer graphics mash up . The credits for the video clearly indicate : A Train Sim fantasy ...
This was produced by 3D Trains for a Developpers conference , although one has to recognize there unquestionably are very strong elements of "Train Simulation" , super-nicely integrated into the digitized video environment .
It seems so perfectly seamless, that this really turns into a Virtual World . Hats off to 3D Trains for this ...
Now, can Microsoft "deliver" such Virtual World High Definition content ?
You certainly know the answer to that one ...'-)
The only question really is this : will your own computer be able to handle it ?
Do you have Inernet broadband access that allows you to communicate at the speed of light ( no less ... / just like most of us do, daily, up here in BC ) ?
Mmmm ? '-)
Only you, can provide the answer to that .
